나는 오늘 뉴스를 읽었지, 오, 보이.

실적을 달성한 행운의 사내에 관한

비록 뉴스는 상당히 슬픈 것이었지만

이제 나는 그저 웃어야 했어

나는 사진사를 보았지

자동차 안에서 자신의 마음이 빼앗기고 있었어

그는 빛이 변화되었음을 깨닫지 못했지

많은 사람들이 서서 가만히 바라보고 있었어.

그들은 그의 얼굴을 언젠가 한 번 보았지

그가 귀족 가문 출신인지 아무도 확신하지 않았어.

 

I read the news today, oh boy

About a lucky man who made the grade

And though the news was rather sad

Well, I just had to laugh

I saw the photograph

He blew his mind out in a car

He didn't notice that the lights had changed

A crowd of people stood and stared

They'd seen his face before

Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords

 

오늘 영화를 한 편 보았지, 오, 보이

영국군이 전쟁에서 승리했다는

많은 사람들이 그냥 등을 돌렸지

그렇지만 나는 확인해야 했어

그 책을 읽었다는 것을

I saw a film today, oh boy

The English Army had just won the war

A crowd of people turned away

But I just had to look

Having read the book

일어나서 침대를 떠났어.

빗으로 내 머리를 빗었지.

평상시대로 아래로 내려가 차를 마셨어.

눈을 치켜들었을 때 늦었음을 느꼈어.

외투를 걸쳐 입고, 모자를 집었지

몇 초 사이에 버스에 올라탔어.

위로 향해 올라가, 담배를 피웠어..

누군가 말했지만, 꿈속에 빠졌어.

 

Woke up, fell out of bed

Dragged a comb across my head

Found my way downstairs and drank a cup

And looking up, I noticed I was late

Found my coat and grabbed my hat

Made the bus in seconds flat

Found my way upstairs and had a smoke

And somebody spoke and I went into a dream

비록 그것들은 자그마했지만

그들은 모든 구멍을 세어보았지
